MATERIALES ZURDOS
Materiales zurdos es un proyecto expositivo entendido en clave de encuentro artístico, donde se trata de mostrar la cohabitación e interacción entre Arte y Criminología, y aun siendo esta última un espacio eminentemente académico orientado a la ciencia y a su enseñanza, para nosotros resulta evidente que el Arte puede y debe enfatizar o sugerir significados que la mera constatación del hecho criminológico, como objeto de estudio científico, no puede, ya que no es su misión.
Por otra parte, si la Criminología es considerada interdisciplinar, ¿por qué no sumar las Artes Plásticas para amplificar el ejercicio de su discurso comunicativo? El crimen invade nuestras emociones y sentidos cuando lo percibimos como testigos mudos o espectadores privilegiados. En su representación artística, su impacto viene envuelto en el simbolismo de lo que nos manifiesta e interpretamos, y por ello podemos grabarlo en nuestra memoria, sin necesidad de tener que rechazar su vivencia por el temor o la ansiedad que nos produce la violencia real.
“Materiales zurdos” es una exposición que nos plantea mirar al asesinato desde el ángulo de su propia gratuidad. “Zurdo” significa aquí “inapropiado”, “extraño”, pero es esa misma falta de idoneidad de los instrumentos o los elementos que forman parte de la escena del crimen lo que nos obliga a mirar y a reflexionar con más detenimiento.
La exposición, parte con la propuesta de trabajo de nueve escritos elaborados por el profesor y criminólogo Vicente Garrido Genovés, y sobre cada uno de ellos, el artista plástico y criminólogo Eutiquio Estirado fundamenta su obra.
LEFT HANDED MATERIALS
Left Handed Materials is an exhibition project understood as an artistic encounter where the attempt is to show the cohabitation and interaction between Art and Criminology, and although this is an obvious academic space orientated to science and its teaching, it is our oppinion that Art can and should emphasize or suggest meanings that simple verification of the criminological fact, as object of scientific study, cannot do as it is not its mission.
On the other hand, if Criminology is considered interdisciplinary, why not add Plastic Arts to amplify the exercise of its communicative speech? When we perceive it as speechless witnesses or privileged spectators, crime invades our senses and emotions. In its artistic representation, its impact comes wrapped in the symbolism of what it reveals to us and what we interpret, and through this we can register it in our memory without having to refuse the experience through the fear or anxiety that real violence can cause us.
“Left Handed Materials” is an exhibition that invites us to look at murder from the angle of its own gratuitous. “Left handed” means here “unsuitable”, “odd”, but it’s this same lack of suitability of the instruments or elements that are part of the scene of the crime what forces us to look and think about it in closer detail.
The exhibition sets off with the work proposal of nine texts prepared by the Professor and Criminologist Vicente Garrido Genovés, and on each one of them, the artist and criminologist Eutiquio Estirado has based his work.
